jasdav reacted to m2usa in Any reviews of the 16-55 (for 18-55 users)?
When I am working as a primary wedding photographer, I usually carry two cameras (Nikon.) One with a 24-70 and one with either an 85 or a 105. I find that this combination works well for most of what I want to capture.  When I want a wider perspective, I will attach a 12-24 and replace the 24-70.  So for a Fuji user, this would mean the 16-55 and the 56, or "maybe" the 90.  Really wish there was a 70mm.  For going wide probably the 12mm Samyang.  For those who like zooms, you can go 16-55 and the 50-140, but I usually use a fast prime as a tele.

Thanks you for the reply, much appreciated!

Out of curiosity: How much do you use the 56 during weddings? I rarely dare to risk a prime during a wedding, unless I'm sure I won't need to change lenses (which is very rare with weddings)... It's one of the reasons for looking at the 16-55 for me.

it is not a great lens, optically, like some of the other fuji offerings. You trade off the "specialness", optically, for the form factor.

But neither is it a "dog" lens, either. I got some good images with it, and liked the form factor. Ultimately, though, I sold it. My personal preference is to only put on lenses that have special properties to them. And when you have those, there is little reason to reach for much else. This lens has a HUGE convenience factor, and that's meaningful, but optically it had the weakest argument for that single slot on the body of the camera--which is pretty valuable creative real estate.

Well, You can always argue about the money, but fact is that all new serious cameras have a fairly high price tag (Olympus anyone?).

I came from a X-E2, and do love the upgrade despite the few problems I have (which might even be lens related). The AF is much faster (accuracy could be better though), AF-C is actually usable. Image quality wise it's not that much of an upgrade, but we knew that already. I do like the ergonomics better, and the bigger EVF is also a plus. If you already have a X-T1, the upgrade might be a bit smaller. And with flash I do not have any problems up until now (Nissin i60a), just waiting for HSS update.

In the end, everyone has to choose for him- or herself.. you can always wait for a new Firmware. At leasst you know that the X-T2 will probably get some significant updates, the X-T1 won't. That's also factored into the price.

The XF 35mm f1.4 is a great lens. It has an aperture ring on it. If you want the aperture to be set automatically, turn the ring to A. If you want to set the aperture manually, turn it to whichever aperture you like. It's as simple as that.
For the electronic rangefinder, try pushing the viewfinder switch the other way.

I just picked up a X-Pro 2 along with a XF 35mm f/1.4 and I'm confused about a few things. Is bright view for zoom lenses? I don't understand how to use that information and am thinking it might for for a lense other than what I'm using. I'm also not sure about the viewfinder selection. I can only switch from EVF to OVF. When I toggle the viewfinder selector, it goes from optical to electronic, but I have yet to see the ERF. The manual also refers to the Aperture mode switch when shooting in the different modes, (shutter, aperture, manual) but the XF 35mm doesn't have one. I thought it was a lense for this camera, did I buy the wrong lense or am I missing something? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

    I wouldn't get the 23, I'd buy a X100T for that. Get the f1.4 35mm and have done.

Update on my last post - I've just bought my daughter an X-A2 (similar size to X-M1) and I tried my XF23mmF2 on it: it's a very nice balance. The 18mm, the 23f2, the 27 and the 35f2 are all among the smaller of Fuji's lenses and all go well with the smaller bodies. If I had just one lens, it would be the 23mm f2

Until now i didn't though about the xe2s, but today i've seen a black one and it looks amazing !
I know the xt10 had problems in the play button, what about the xe2s? The build quality of the last one is better (made in Japan) ?
Another point is my left eye dominance and big nose

There's some software difference between them?

    Thank you very much!

I would have thought the obvious gap in the fuji ensemble is a compact camera with a good fixed zoom and a more serious sensor - like the Sony RX100 or the Pana LX100 (But better of course).

I reckon a 1" sensor would do.  Small and compoact but able to take quality pics.

Just out of curiosity, I wanted to start a thread where everyone can post about their preorders. I'll be curious as we get closer to late August/September who is receiving their order and from where. I placed my preorder last week from B&H, and today they changed the expected availability from mid-August to September.

I was wondering if anyone besides myself has experienced the eyepiece from an X-Pro 2 coming off. The camera was not dropped or banged around but two days ago I noticed that the rubber eyepiece missing. It seems that Fuji considers it part of the body and does  not sell the eyepiece separately as a part.

    Thanks

Handy! For example when customising the Fn buttons and the Q menu it is useful to know which functions can be assigned to the Q menu and which have to be assigned to an Fn button. I made that list myself but have not seen it printed anywhere else.

So..I was doing another test shot with the Rokinon 12mm.  I decided to shoot out the window.  The shot below is straight out of the camera.  No editing.  ISO 3200, shutter at 1" and f/2.  Kind of handheld leaning against the window.  There is a black area on the top right.  That is a cross section of the net I have in my porch so the kids won't fall out.  You can also see it on the bottom left.

What do you think of the shot?  I was kind of impressed.  Not that good a shot really.  I should have done some straightening, but, I think it shows some cool possibilities.

You might want to head over to flickr to see it larger.
