My first post...just thought I would chime in on using Metabones adapters with Nikon lenses on my Fuji X-T10.  I'm in the process of switching from Nikon D7100 to Fuji X-T10 and while I love Fuji lenses, my Nikon macro lenses (Nikon 60mm f2.8 and Tokina 100mm f2.8 macro) are just better than the 60mm Fuji.  I also have a 11-20 Tokina f2.8 that I use for astrophotography.  Since macro and night photography usually require manual focusing, using an adapter is not a problem.  I have the more expensive Metabones adapter with the aperture ring included since some of my original lenses were DX and did not have a aperture ring on them.  The adapter will work with both types.  Just set the lens at the smallest aperture and let the adapter ring control aperture.  Attachment is easy and the lenses are reasonably balanced on the camera given it is so small.  I use the collar on the adapter to attach to my tripod and/or monopod.  I've adapted to focus peaking and can focus them quite well, especially at 2.8.  Images are fantastic!  The metabones adapter was definitely worth the money ($139) because it allows me to stagger my Fuji lens purchases into the future while still having nice quality lenses in the meantime.

Noise isn't information. If you take an 8MP image, and upscale it, then add fake noise, you'll find at some point you've matched the (noisy) high ISO image of the same scene shot at 24MP, because the noise in the 24MP image was just that... noise. Not actually information from the scene. Or conversely, if you take a noisy ISO 6400 24MP image and start scaling it down, you'll reach a point where the noise becomes imperceptible (it averages out). This is why you never see noisy photos on instagram... The images there are only displayed at like 3MP.

People fall into this trap every time a new, higher megapixel image sensor comes out. They look at a 16MP ISO 6400 image at 1:1 and compare it to the 24MP ISO 6400 image at 1:1. That's not a valid comparison. If you downscale the 24MP image to 16MP, then maybe you can compare. But chances are nobody but the photographer will ever see the image at 1:1 anyway, they'll see some 3-6MP downscaled version on the web.

The moral of the story is: if you want to crop a lot or make a giant print (i.e. benefit from that 24 megapixels) then you're going to have to shoot at ISO 200. If you accept that you will only make smaller prints or only display on the web, then you can crank the ISO as high as you want (the higher you go, the smaller the dispaly MP you can support without the image appearing noisy).

Hi all - a big Texas howdy from a new Fuji fan :-) I am Ina slow migration away from all my canon feet and I'm really, really happy with the Fuji system so far. I have an x-t1, the 18-55 f:2.8 - F/4 "kit", and the 55-200 f/3.5-4.8. I mostly shoot portraits, events, and sports (yeah I know :-().

I'm honestly blown away by the image quality this camera and lenses produces. It easily rivals my canon 5d Mkii II and 7d II / 24/70 2.8 (v1) and 70-200 2.8.

I'm blown away by this 55-200 telephoto - the OIS and sharpness are just phenomenal for a "cheaper" lens - so glad I bought it - plan on shooting some portraits with it until I get the 56 1.2 :-)

One quick question - planning on getting an old x-e1 as a backup (I'm part time, fairly low volume). Any reasons why I shouldn't do this? Should I just suck it up and get an x-pro1 or x-e2 instead? I'm just drawn to the very cheap used price right now - lol :-)

I know it's not easy. I'll make the start.

My personal favorite image of 2015 has been taken at the abandoned Casino at the Bokor Mountain, Cambodia.

I noticed some kids, who were playing hide and seek inside the Casino. One kid hide behind the wall, and I knew that sooner or later he will look down the stairs to see if his friends are coming... so I just was there, framed the image, exposed it... and waited. And then the kid came out... click... I got it

Got xt10 in January and have loved it so much I'm selling my Nikon D7100 and all my lenses. Except my macro lenses which I'm using a meta one adapter. Reasons for move... Smaller, equal to superior quality, and man it looks and feels so cool.
