  1. Ken Rockwell? Is that the guy who tests lens and publishes picture made on ISO 6400, and crapping or apprise the lens how bad/good it behaves?
  2. Raynox 150, 250 and they have a so called macroscopic lens Are all very good. (Though i tried them on very old compact camera, so I don't know it it degrades a high quality lens. On my lens it was not an issue canon a650is) As a trick i bought some cart'edor ice cream, and took its cover, cleaned it, drilled a hole into the middle of it ans attached the clip to it. So when i put it onto the camera the raynox is clipped to it with this white transparent plastic stuff. From now you can use flash, as light will be diffuse enough, and as the plastic will illuminated it won't be that big difference on the picture the top where the flash emits the light) and the bottom. On the other hand it is very strange what U say about extension tubes. You must not experience any king of degradation distortion with that, as it doesn't contain optical elements. (maybe lens are not identified well and camera can not correct the known distortions?)
  3. I like the 18mm and i don't see 27mm that big stuff. Small- small, but not that much smaller, to be hones, maybe i miss something but straight from the camera jpg pictures for me are not that nice as 18mm, and pro 1 has the real resolution to crop a good size so we can have usable picture cropping a 18mm to the size of a 27mm. It is a waste of money to have both, and waste of time changing them. (I am still amazed that 100% crops are pictures not detail-less washed painting like from my compact Sony) To be honest if I sell both 18 and 27mm I can buy a 18-55mm zoom, what is said to be a prime quality zoom, and my configuration is more flexible, less lens changing. Yes a bit bigger.
  4. To be honest i prefere the 18mm. I feel it sharper, i can crop it for the same angle, with the depth of field the difference is not as huge I can not compensate with the apperture. Yes 27mm is super small on pro1
  5. After my first tests I am amazed by the handling of this machine. Still it is to loud for my taste the af and the shutter as well. (Still don't understand why there is shutter in mirrorless cameras, it should be full electric, and only aperture should move) I am also impressed how much i can crop from the picture and still have a proper picture. I am shocked that ISO settings are like no effect on the picture. I see the first minimal noise on ISO 6400, and to be honest i just saw it as i was searching for it as i wanted to test how far I can go. Colours are beautiful, still i see minimal differences between the film emulations, so I couldn't make up my mind which to use. I checked the 18 and 27mm lens. People are about how sharp is the 27. To be honest as I see for my taste 18mm it is much better then what 27mm is creating. I can anytime crop the image to the same size .On the other hand yes 27 mm is half of the size. (By the way I don't know how others are testing, or how demanding they are, I could see no difference between different apertures on the image. I was photoing an old wall to minimize the changing depth of filed effect. for me the details and sharpness of the stone were more then acceptable with every aperture step. I could see trace of little degradation over apperture 11 however it might be just my eyes started to see blurry at that point) So still i need to figure out which should be the main lens. I think I will need the 60mm macro very soon, but in that case i will need a flash too. Anybody has experiences with wee flash for x-pro1? (shouldn't be strong, just kind of fill flash going through a special self designed diffusor.) Also would like to taste Shamyang 12mm. I am also thinking about to sell both or one prime and buy the 18-55 mm zoom, as i have heared that the quality is the same or higher as it is a really good zoom. Despite usability, it is kind of betray the soul of the pro1 but i don't care i was always on the usability side Anyway, I terrible miss an affordable long zoom, like sigma 150-600. I saw the new fuji zoom goes to 400 with teleconverter but it is like 1500 pounds. What is kind of short and dear. Anyway maybe i will buy another brand for long tele, then for macro and general photo i can use the Fuji.
  6. Oh thx for the clarification, i thought it has electric timing like compact cameras.
  7. Hi, I have a little confusion. X-pro 1 is a mirror-less camera. Then why is this so laud every picture to make, I even feel some movement what is actually ruder then my canon mirror movement in an old 15 years old film based camera. I think only moving part should be the aperture, but the noise and the vibration is much bigger then i would imagine on aperture movement. Another question, the objective is in focus. I push again half way the exposure button, the response is it starts focusing from the beginning (what is terrible noisy as well both with 18, both with 27 mm lens) So is there a way to work it normally, or it is like that? About the tank build body, yes it is well built, but to be honest even a nikon 1 j2 is robust compared to it.
  8. i have ordered it, I think that was the last one as i can't see it in their shop any more. Still they told me they had to order this as it was out of stock, so maybe they will have more/again/or for order. http://www.wexphotographic.com/ price was 499£ the pro1 + 18,27 lens and that camera bag stuff. So If price is tempting, it might worth to follow them or send them a mail. Pls be aware they are only delivering inside UK, and UK oversees. In case someone interested, during my investigations i found few UK shops with 600£ prices, and few Irish shop with 700 EURO prices (all the x- pro1 ,double lens + bag kit) so give me a shout, and i send the links, in case it is not against the site rules.
  9. By the way, will the Pro-1 be maintained by firmware updates,or pro1 is as is, won't change, evolve anymore?
  10. Hi all, I have a problem, I found a pro-1 kit with the 18 and 27mm lens for 650 euro. I know that even e2 is more developed, and new versions of x cameras are out.still it was kind of quality etalon, so I guess, it can work for my amateur goals. I am more into nature, bird, macro then into street photo, and mostly used compacts (I had my practica/zenit experiences too).so I guess I won't have quality and speed problems. On the other hand as I see it is a thinking camera. It allows u to make fast street shots, but with the manual settings, it forces you to slow down, think over the settings, chew a bit on the topic, so AF speed shouldn't be an issue. A bit I feel even the camera style is non AF. Still I am a bit scared, as the way I can pay is mostly the manual focus, shamyang objectives.I would like to make macro photos (AF also not a big loss here). So how is the paralaxis error here? OK I can use the display for composing. But how is the focused peak? Is it helps well? If I use adapters for Nikon objectives, I know AF will be gone, but also the aperture controlled and light metering? So what is your opinion, is it worth to buy it?
