exactly as I suggested, add a plate and that’s that. The Hejnar is way too expansive, methinks. There is nothing highly technological in a plate like this. Any decent plate would have sufficed and some. This $5 ( just a little more than a bag of good brand peanuts) plate would have worked perfectly ( it has all sorts of possibilities to be used and if you dont like this go back to the previous link and find 100 other ones) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Universal-PU100-Quick-Release-Plate-for-Camera-Benro-Arca-Swiss-Tripod-Ball-Head/32290618761.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.96.KMP90S&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_2_10065_10000073_10068_10501_10000074_10503_10000032_119_10000030_10000026_10000023_10000069_10000068_10060_10062_10056_10055_10000062_10054_10000063_10059_10099_10000020_10000013_10103_10102_10000016_10096_10000056_10000059_10052_10053_10107_10050_10106_10051_10000097_10000094_10000053_10000007_10000050_10084_10083_10000100_10080_10000047_10082_10081_10110_10111_10112_10113_10114_10115_10000041_10000044_10078_10079_10000038_10073_10000035_10122_10123_10121_10124-10503_10501,searchweb201603_1,afswitch_4,ppcSwitch_5,single_sort_3_default&btsid=4e3ada03-d782-4281-b057-c1128c67ee57 But I agree, I wouldn’t have spent $100 ~ $300 though but to each his own. However, even if you sped the money that you spent for this lens and then think that $20 is a lot of money. for a Lens which costs nearly a couple of thousand ...Well, what can anyone say about this logic.

If you have a manfrotto or the older gitzo head with their quick plate, for example, you can’t use it. What is “ de facto” for you it is not for all the people in the world. it costs pennies to mount another plate under the one that fuji provides, this proposed “ improvement" is a solution for a problem that doesn’t exist.

OP wants fuji to make its bracket Arca compatible when all that one has to do to transform it into an arca plate is to mount an arca plate UNDER the Fuji bracket of the lens ( what’s difficult about that?). This makes it possible to use the lens on an arca compatible head OR on a normal non-arca one, costs pennies and is done in seconds. Besides, there is no need to spend hundreds of whatever currencies you use. https://www.aliexpress.com/wholesale?catId=0&initiative_id=SB_20170214003539&SearchText=arca+swiss+plate All of these adapter-plates or clamps ( I have several and you can find the ones that are very well made too) can be bought for very much less on line ( ebay, Aliexpress). I’ve just modified a pistol grip ( which I believe would be great for any 100-400 user) to accept a mini arca clamp ( there are even smaller ones) measuring 32mm to take my camera (equipped with an arca-clone L bracket) when shooting with any heavy lens.It will also be possible to use the pistol grip between camera and monopod to improve your steady shot with one.

Indeed, Not a studio portrait, but a real portrait nonetheless! Bravo, well done. Certainly this is a real portrait, as opposed to any picture ( beautifully made as it may be) with the face and body of a person in it , you portrait talks of the person behind its image.

well, you could use a good old fashion cable or alternatively any universal trigger http://www.fujirumors.com/let-there-be-light-elinchrom-phottix-and-godox-working-on-fujifilm-x-compatible-flashestriggers/

you have to provide the barcode http://www.rebateshq.com/promocenter/rebateshq/faq.html

I don’t do much in the way of moving objects but, as I understand, despite the fact that “ zone” should work better the single point are more precise . However when the first firmware came to adopt these modes I did test the 50-230 and performed admirably with people biking towards me with zone focus.

first of all the serious problem in adapting any tilt shift lens to the fuji system is the size of the APS-C sensor, being this smaller than a full frame one it makes a smaller use of the igage circle projected by the lens effectively reducing the angle of view of the lens. We all know that, Ideally, you would want to use a wideagle to do this, but there isn’t much of a wideagle in a 24mm when used on an APS-C sensor. Samyang makes a 24 mm which works as very mild wideangle on the APS-C. Tilt shift adapters are available to be used on other brand lenses but again, you won’t have much of an angle and not even much tilt or shift. It is much better ( although you lose some of the image which needs to be cropped) to use the perspective control offered by most software such as Photoshop or similar.

Adaptor for Canon EFS 10-22 lens for X-T1
milandro replied to VinceLane's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
6 stops from the base is plenty. 1.2> 2> 2.4 >4> 4.8.> 8 1.4 > 1.8> 2.8 > 3.5 > 5.6> 7 each two values the value doubles as it does on your apertures. The reason why you can’t have too many apertures is that ( due to the position it is, incorrect really) it will vignette at some point. The expensive ( $500!!!!) electric one will actually operate the lens aperture electrically ( very cumbersome it has a separate source of electricity, that white box) http://global.rakuten.com/en/store/auc-stkb/item/kipon-eos-fx-e_kipon-stef-ua/ -
Adaptor for Canon EFS 10-22 lens for X-T1
milandro replied to VinceLane's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
why? the numbers are like that because there is no way to know on which lens you will be using it, so 1 is the base 2 is the next one up ( 1.4 , 2, 2.8 > and so forth) -
Any reviews of the 16-55 (for 18-55 users)?
milandro replied to FearTheXNoob's topic in Fuji X Lenses
you are probably addressing this to OP who was last seen on this forum a year ago... -
nice pic but I can’t help thinking that it would have been nicer if you only shot the eggshells and used no chick at all. The message would have been way more graphic and powerful, try holding you hand in front of the chick and see what I mean.

if the picture would be slightly darker ( fiddle with the levels), the name TALLIN will stand out more, as it is it is a little too bleached and undefined.

Any reviews of the 16-55 (for 18-55 users)?
milandro replied to FearTheXNoob's topic in Fuji X Lenses
After a rather long companionship with the 18-55 I decided to part ways with it and upgrade to 16-55. It is early days, I am happy with the 16-55, but if nothing else now I know how good the 18-55 really is ( by the way mine was a “ Made in China” 18-55, there are made in Japan and made in China ones) because the differences are very small indeed. So, unless one really needs (and I did) the wider reach and or the WR ( I don’t really need it although I was in the snow and appreciated knowing that the lens wasn’t going to be damaged by some snow) then upgrading is not necessarily something that I would recommend. The separation at the long end is nicer at 2.8 ( at the wide end they are the same aperture and perform practically the same way), but I have specific lenses for that particular focal length. However this is the ideal zoom, for me, if you are walking about, not exactly knowing what you will come across but don’t want to take all the lenses that you have. I am confident that I can tackle just about anything with it. The lack of OIS , coupled to its weight, make it a little less usable in low light ( if you don’t want to push the ISO). But I am experimenting with a pistol grip to improve a steady grip at low shutter speed. I can shoot at reasonably long shutter speeds and, of course, only have to deal with the subject moving (if this does). I am not happy about the petal lens hood. I’ve ordered a vented hood which, I hope, will not vignette. -
Adaptor for Canon EFS 10-22 lens for X-T1
milandro replied to VinceLane's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
well, you are right, BUT, as amply shown above, there are adaptors ( with aperture possibility) and there are adaptors ( just adapting the bayonet and nothing else). However I agree, I would not use this 1-22 an I wouldn’t use any adapted wideangle lens or a zoom or any other lens that only makes sense if used in autofocus. -
and which phone are you using?
-
to be truthful this is not a Samsung Apple thing but it is the forum browser that does it, it can be easily disabled and most people aren’t even aware that they leave this unrequested footprint. I have asked the Administrators to do something if possible, maybe you could do the same, the matter is under scrutiny
-
could all the new members please show some courtesy and disable this obnoxious and useless message? Why would anyone advertise for phone and program used with EVERY post they make here, why if some of the same people block the Fuji brand on their cameras to NOT advertise for free, they then don’t care and expose us to unwanted advertising? Please, please, please!

Adaptor for Canon EFS 10-22 lens for X-T1
milandro replied to VinceLane's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
on line you will find a number of adaptors some will have no aperture at all ( depends on the lens that you want to adapt) and some will, for the lenses that haven’t , some will have electrical contacts ( and external power supply) some will have also focal reducing capabilities like the Zhongyi lens turbo II. Adapting zooms is not very useful when you lose the autofocus. Adapting wideangles will be impractical and won’t yield great results anyway. So, in the end you will see that unless you are single minded adaptive photography will only ever be a marginal part of your photography because the caveats are way more than the advantages over the lenses of the Fuji system ( Unless you want to have a race car on the hand brake all the time). -
the best and cheapest lens for covering something like that is the 18-55, alternatively the 16-55. The 56 is too long for most pictures that you will be asked to take. If you are the only photographer they will miss many shots if you only ave the 56 and if they are friends they will hate you for that. Using a (bounce) flash, by the way, is not a luxury here.

well, it is incredibly easy to mount a plate under the lens mount to fit an arca clamp on your tri or mono-pod. they are available in all sizes, prices and quality. If Fuji would make this as a standard they would limit the ability to be used on a head with the screw fitting alone and this costs WAY less that if they would do it.

Petzval 85mm F2.2 in Fujifilm mount anyone?
milandro replied to milandro's topic in Adapting lenses to Fuji X
Agree! That’s what I find myself to be the case. I started photography for fun, then I went into professional practice for a long time, now that I am no longer an active pro photographer I am back to enjoying the fun. No pressure and constrictions. -
cant’ please everyone every time, only some folks most of the time, it is clear that Fuji is doing something different than Panasonic. If you can’t bring Moses to the mountain Fuji, it is unlikely that you can bring mountain Fuji to Moses. And it never came to pass that the twain shall ever meet.
