  1. Generally speaking it is cheaper to have dedicated adapters.
  2. Yes it is!

  5. Agave ( with the so called “ characterless” 18-55 ... (sic!) )
  6. Yes, banding due to the light frequency interfering with the electronic shutter. Many forms of artificial light are not continuous but intermittent producing on-off light cycles with a certain speed. The same happens also with television or cinema screens. If you shoot at speed faster than the frequency of the light source this will returns bands of light where the light is effectively off when you shot the picture. In the olden days you could also check the shutter speed by counting the lines of the television screen (different in PAL or NTSC). I suspect that this light source was a LED. You can also observe bands of different color ( Green and Magenta) as the the light switches between on and off. Shooting at a longer shutter (1/30 to 1/15 )speed should take care of this. Find here an article which will help you. https://www.getdpi.com/forum/fuji/56729-fuji-x-electronic-shutter-test-banding.html
  7. No reason to feel offended because I wrote that there was no need to bring your camera to a professional of any type! There was no reason to bring this to a goldsmith or a lab... or a watchmaker. You can see in the video that there is hardly any special skill involved, can’t you? I appreciate that you wanted to share your experience ... but you also were conveying the impression that this was something which required special skills and it clearly doesn’t, hence the comment “ No need for any goldsmith” (or a watchmaker) this is something that if anything , anyone should be able to perform, as indeed and no doubt intended by Fuji! Internet is of a great help but one can easily spread faulty “ information” and before you know the X-T2 has the reputation to have an eycup that cannot be changed or that it requires a tech to change. Maybe I should have made it into the joke: " how many technicians does one need to change a X-T2 eyecup? None!" You were probably just overzealous in acquiring the services (even for free) of a watchmaker.
  8. I thought of sharing the results of this lens with the forum members whom might look for advise on adapted lenses (even if you don’t buy mine it is a great lens to have, but I have already 4 x 50mm! )
  9. he is busy polishing his crystal ball
  10. I have never doubted it and I am pretty good at finding whatever information I need by the use of a search engine
  11. Ahem, appreciate the subtle hint ... Jiggling, that is... that happens when one juggles several languages
  12. Absolutely, this “ thing” of FUJIFILM being asked by “ the Government” ( as many said) to save NIKON has spread like wildfire on internet and after an initial report many have started questioning the whole quality of this news or more probably alternative news. It is all based on secondhand reports and there are no primary sources other than a summary of an article on Sentoku which might be or not accurate and which veridical content (or translation) has to be verified. The whole thing is also suspicious exactly because it supposedly comes from a politician. The very act of publishing this new would only be used as a last resort because any court in the world would deem spreading such news as an unlawful act directed to influence the stock market. Unless things have changed ( I have written as a journalist, professionally in the past, and still do although currently “ only” on a music magazine) news should be considered unconfirmed if NOT corroborated by at least two independent (from each other) sources. It's a good job that we are on Fuji “ rumors” since this is all this is. an unconfirmed rumor potentially very damaging for the Nikon stockholders.
  13. The trend though (for example the last quarter of 2017) is not so great. Revenue During the third quarter year to date of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, The Group recorded ¥1,702.9 billion in consolidated revenue (down 7.5% from the same period of the previous fiscal year), reflecting such factors as the negative impact of yen appreciation (¥140.0 billion), while the sales of such businesses as flat panel display (FPD) materials and electronic materials increased. Income Operating income totaled ¥114.1 billion (down 14.8% from the same period of the previous fiscal year), reflecting such factors as the negative impact of yen appreciation (¥30.7 billion), while the improvement of profitability in each business continued. Outlook Regarding consolidated performance in the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017, the Company keeps its forecasts unchanged of ¥2,400.0 billion in revenue (down 3.7% from the previous fiscal year), operating income of ¥192.0 billion (up 0.4% from the previous fiscal year), income before income taxes of ¥192.0 billion (down 1.3% from the previous fiscal year), and net income attributable to FUJIFILM Holdings of ¥112.0 billion (down 9.2% from the previous fiscal year). The projected currency exchange rates for the U.S. dollar and the euro against the yen for the fourth quarter of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2017 are ¥105 and ¥115, respectively.
  14. A little knowledge is dangerous... Of course it is removable ! It even fits the old eyecup! ( see this http://www.fuji-x-forum.com/topic/3935-fujifilm-long-eyecup-ec-xt-l-for-x-t1-on-x-t2/) Even on the later model of the X-T1 (mine) the eyecup would not come out so easily ( the first ones did and everybody lost them) As shown in this video, not mine, one removes ( Jiggling a little if needed) the old one and puts the new one on, there is no need of any goldsmith and no particular problems, in doing it just gently but firmly jiggle it (or, as shown in the video, lift up slightly the bottom portion of the eyecup and slide it out)
  15. To assess the amount of capital that might be available (or not) to be invested by Fujifilm I strongly suggest re-reading the yearly report for the shareholders of the last few years published by Fuji. Perhaps realism in this will finally kick in. The popular expression wishful thinking is an oxymoron. https://www.fujifilmholdings.com/en/investors/annual_reports/2016/index.html http://www.fujifilmholdings.com/en/investors/annual_reports/2015/ http://www.fujifilmholdings.com/en/investors/annual_reports/2014/
  16. Here is the thing. Fuji, a minor player in the digital photography world ( most of their money is in copy machines and instant photography) should help a competitor many times bigger. Wouldn’t it be better, and cheaper just to wait?
  17. I wouldn’t do it. You will not really put any real power on the lens since you are focussing with the ring. At most i’d use loctite thread locker (the weakest one)
  18. yes, I use to have a few but I gave them away when I sold all my enlarging stuff. I also had them to use on seiko/tominon ( Polaroid) shutters of my MP4.
  19. There are many, Componon, Rodagon, Nikon, all at little money, I suggest you look at charity shops. The latest Componon or Rodagon have less blades but can be clicked into continuous ( stopless ) aperture ( was useful for color printing). https://www.marktplaats.nl/a/audio-tv-en-foto/fotografie-lenzen-en-objectieven/m1152350064-schneider-kreuznach-componon-s-2-8-50mm.html?c=8c285449651fa109c354bbabe740c1b&previousPage=lr&pos=6 https://www.marktplaats.nl/a/audio-tv-en-foto/fotografie-lenzen-en-objectieven/m1172618975-rodenstock-rodagon-2-8-50-mm-vergrotingsobjectief.html?c=8c285449651fa109c354bbabe740c1b&previousPage=lr&pos=3 https://www.marktplaats.nl/a/audio-tv-en-foto/fotografie-lenzen-en-objectieven/m1152348319-rodenstock-rodagon-lens-50mm-2-8.html?c=8c285449651fa109c354bbabe740c1b&previousPage=lr&pos=11
  20. Few minutes left to commit to the Neptune system. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/lomography/the-neptune-convertible-art-lens-system?source=nl_convertible_lens_kickstarter_closing_nld&utm_campaign=nl_convertible_lens_kickstarter_closing_nld&utm_medium=email&utm_source=newsletter I am not interested but someone might. This is a new... ... version of a very OLD concept like the lenses of the Kodak Retina III. (and other cameras too) You have a lens with a basic element and focussing mechanism and three front elements to create three lenses . This concept was tried and failed because of the introduction of zoom lenses . I can’t imagine how it would be beneficial to use one of these systems on any modern cameras, let alone the fact that you can expect to fidget with small lens elements and to have them exposed to the elements (dust collecting galore) in your bag if you want to practically exchange them. I love my Petzval because of its quirks but this is a step too far.
  21. an enlarging lens would work well for macro ( better so on an helicoid than on a macro bellows which makes the ensemble rather more heavy and difficult to operate) because corrected for short distance, some would work better than others ( like old Leica and Agfa lenses and old Componons) because of their circular, sometimes stopless, aperture. Some lenses are also apochromatic. The drawback is the aperture relatively slow of most enlarging lenses and the size of lenses longer than 150mm, but shorter lenses than that are very small and light.
  22. The Japanese society has never been ruled this way and this , I am sure, is an hoax.
  23. The jobs are not lost they are just shifted to another company. If NIKON should close down a plant or two maybe Fuji makes more camera and takes people on. THIS is capitalism at work. If I were the CEO of Fuji I would thank for the suggestion but tell the government that I am working for the shareholders not the politicians By the way, there are VERY strict rules about State Support in the EU and this would for sure NOT be permitted. The country in question was admonished several times. This is how SABENA died and we lost in Holland, FOKKER.
