The entertainment factor would be much bigger and who knows what kind of ground-breaking discovery might be made along the way And one can teach one's kids a trick or two while at it. Btw, the cost of components for this sort of thing is next to nothing. But you are right, of course. It was just an idea.

Interesting... a while ago I read about the automated focus rail slides that some people build to take stacked photos (to achieve greater depth of field in macrophotography). They advance the camera by the means of an Arduino-controlled stepper motor turning a wormdrive. Would it be an idea to use something like this to move the camera along the x and y axis (as opposed to the z axis used in macrophotography, assuming z is the movement towards/from the subject) to achieve manageable pixel shifts ?

George_P replied to dereksurfs's topic in Fuji X-Pro 1 / Fuji X-Pro 2 / Fuji X-Pro 3
No moons ? (after it was in all the news yesterday ?) Surely you guys have better ones, but in the meantime here's mine. The old fella was too high up by the time I got home. X-T10/50-230/handheld/Silkypix- 6 replies

The baby seems to be rather indifferent to the type of film sim chosen but yes the second one is better.

I beat you, Gordon, but your post was longer so I suppose it does not count.

Hermelin, I have all the lens in the first combo (18-55, 35f2, 90) and that is what I would get. The 18-55 is great when you don't have time to change lenses and to zoom with your legs, like in a city with your kids. You can do some architecture shots and some portraits, for instance. The 35f2 is fast to focus, small and light, great for indoors, I like it very much, it turns my X-T10 into a small and very portable camera. The 90 is a killer portrait lens. For me tele is not important, for that I bought the 50-230 for 179 € (!) new and for me it is good enough for tele. To come back to your question, about 50-50. Depends what you like to do. Cheers and congrats to your new-to-be X-T2.

Begi, I am back but I have too much work to do. I will post every now and then. This one is of the "Kriváň" mountain, 2495 m. taken this August over the High Tatras, from "Lomnický štít", 2364 m. above sea level. Full Size All the best, George

First thing I have to do is change my avatar. This one was taken on a cycling trip by my brother with a phone. The only pic of myself I could find when I registered spontaneously on this blog. A fine example of blown highlights, isn't it.

Begi, Sir, I see the point you have made by your post. I am on a business trip but after I come back I will rise to your challenge. I am not a photographer and I don't get to any exotic locations nowadays, so my pics won't be on par with the incredibly beatiful pictures that the others post here, but I will throw in my 2 cents of what mine will be worth. You are right, technology should be secondary. Cheers

Congratulations and best wishes !

It´s a Yes/Yes question - a wonderful little camera. You will love it, I bet.

My icelandic trip with my fuji x-pro2

Beautiful, hat off to you. George -
OK but the Selphy is very portable too and looks cool as well. A great little gadget. Went hiking with my family and friends last weekend and I took it along. We stayed in a small village. There were two little boys, twins, climbing up a gate in a house nearby as we were coming back from the hike. I went back and gave a photo of the two little bandits to their grandmother. She was so happy and surprised. Good fun.

I may be missing something but I do not understand why would anyone want the Instax. I have the Canon Selphy CP1200 and I think it is much better. You can either connect it to your WiFi network or use it as a standalone WiFi Access Point (it creates its own network). The quality of the prints is much better than Instax and the size of the prints is more useful. They are also cheaper to print. You can get an elegant little travel case for it. Also a rechargeable battery if you think you need to print photos even when you have no power socket nearby. I transfer the photos to a tablet, edit/crop/etc. if I want to and print via Airprint.

X-T10 with Eintsein Flash Transmitter on Hot-Shoe
George_P replied to crutonix's topic in Fuji X-T1 / Fuji X-T10
I use the FlashQ transmitter + two receivers, no special settings on the X-T10, SS 200 works. -
Well if you decide to visit do not hesitate to contact me for support. I have a friend who has a skiing resort in Low Tatras who will provide accomodation free of charge if I ask him and another who is a photographer and lives close to the High Tatras. Best wishes, cheers.

Small Carpathian Mountains: deer, mouflon, wild boar, once I saw a wolf & two cubs up above on the edge of a high cliff, owl, birds of prey. Bears are abundant in Slovakia but further away in the bigger mountain ranges. When I go to other parts of Slovakia then I ride the road bike, so I don't see many animals, but at home I use both the road bike and the mountain bike so I see animals quite often.

Compliments, fantastic pictures, these and the others. Thanks for posting. I see the fox occasionally and other wild animals more often when cycling, but I do not carry a camera when I am on the bike.

You produced that at 11:20 am so you could ask yourself what you meant by that. Never mind. This is way too far off topic already. brgds

It means I don't give a damn, I am relaxed and it will not be kingly, hopefully.

Teach me. What's wrong with that. I am not on many forums, I have limited experience. I used my name because I want to stand by what I say and not "hide" behind an anonymous nick. If it would have been taken I would choose something else but since it was free I didn't see a reason to use something else.

While a chance to do something nice was missed.

Shouldn't be a problem to change MikeG to something more remote from Mike G. I would happily comply to such a request from an older member. Good luck Mike and I wish you a turn for the better.

Hullo, In the menu, go to the first blue tab (set-up menu #1), then scroll to Screen Set-up, then choose between Preview Exposure in Manual Mode: On / Off. When you are in a dark environment (whether you want to shoot with flash or without flash, e.g. with a long shutter speed on a tripod), if you set it to Off you will get an amplified view and you will see the scene. You mentioned an OVF like on an SLR, well there you would not be able to do this, if it is dark, you see darkness. You would have to use an autofocus assist light, either on the camera or on an attached flash, which in some circumstances can be undesirable and it would not be effective for distant subjects anyway. On the other hand, if you set it to On, you see the direct effect that your changes in SS, Aperture or ISO have on your exposure, so you can have an idea beforehand of what your shot will look like. You even see the effects of different film simulations, depth of field etc. These are some of the advantages of the mirrorless concept. Manual page 108.

Quincy, I am late to the party but thanks for your good intention to assemble and share a useful resource and for your effort to keep it up to date. Cheers.
