  1. It is clearly visible to the naked eye, at this location my night vision was not obstructed by any artificial light so I could enjoy the show as it should be enjoyed. It was truly amazing one of the best I have ever seen. I understand why it was a feared phenomenon in the old days. It was very dramatic and the light danced across the sky. It can move really fast. If I were in town (Longyearbyen) I would probably have missed it, at best I would have seen some very weak light patterns in the sky. Camera sensors must pick up far more than we see. I did not see the violet part, the Aurora looked green to me when this image was taken. When photographing Aurora it is important to keep the shutter speed as short as possible to keep the texture og the light, but of course it is a balance between short shutter speed and high ISO which introduce noise. The aperture you keep wide open, and the XF16 f/1,4 is perfect for this kind of use.

  6. Honfleur, Normandy, France Fuji X-T10, 16mm f/1.4 @ f/8 - 1/500 sec - ISO 200
  7. The American Cemetery at Colleville Sur Mer (Omaha Beach) in Normandy, France. Nearly 10.000 perfectly aligned marble crosses with a young American soldier under each. A reminder that the freedom we enjoy today did come with a price tag. All Europeans should go there at least once in their lifetime. Fuji X-T10, 16mm f/1.4 @ f/7,1 - 1/180 sec - ISO 200
  8. Honfleur, Normandie, France Fuji X-T10, XF 16mm f/1,4 @ f/5,6, 1/240 sek, ISO 200
  9. I don´t find the focus speed an issue with the 16mm. I am going to France in a week - visiting the beaches and cemeteries in Normandie, If I only could bring one lens with me it would be the sweet 16. No doubt. (The only thing that bothers me is that Fuji does not deliver the lens with the LH XF16 lens hood as standard. Why would they leave that out on such a premium lens?)
  10. Specially one trip this winter the temperature peaked to -25°C one evening when I was just outside the cabin taking pictures of Svalbard Reindeers (Rangier tarandus platyrhynchus). When I was done I brought the camera into the cabin where the temperature was above +30°C. That is a sudden 60 degree rise in temperature. The camera was inside its waterproof bag when i went Inside, but it must still be considered rough treatment. I love my little X-T10, It is everything I hoped it would be. Fujifilm X-T10, XF100-400 f/4,5-5,6 R LM OIS WR @ 400mm, 1/210 sec, f/5,6, ISO 320
  11. I just got the 16mm in the mail yesterday and haven't had the time to test it properly. But I tried it briefly just to try out the close focus part. Not a portrait lens exactly, but really fun to use. This example is shot wide open. Her right eyebrow is in focus - I aimed for the eye... So you get a narrow DOF even with this wide angle lens if you go close.
  12. I have used the X-T10 this winter on the Spitsbergen Archipelago at 78 degrees North. Even if we did not reach extreme temperatures this winter I got to use it over long periods of time in temperatures -20 degrees C. along with the 50-140 and the 100-400 lenses. I expreienced no problems at all. Of course you get issues with battery capacity if you store them in low temperatures and you have to be aware of lens fogging, but that applies to all brands of cameras.

  14. Not a masterpiece, but a picture of two of my kids the day I received the XF 50-140 f/2,8 XF 50-140 @ 140mm, f/2,8, 1/180 sec X-T10

  16. Hello all, I am a new member on this forum My name is Eirik Berger and I live in Longyearbyen on the Arctic archipelago Spitsbergen in the North Atlantic. I recently purchased a Fuji X-T10 with the 18-55mm f/2,8-4 lens. Why? I have used Canon full frame DSLR for years, but I have for some time wanted a smaller system for travel, landscape and family pictures ( I have three small children). I know the top quality of Fuji lenses as I have worked with large format (4x5" and 8x10") photography for years. And I love the way the Fuji X-cameras look, so does my wife (that always helps). The 18-55 is the best quality kit lens I have ever had, I love the all-metal construction. I just wish the hoods also were metal like the Zeiss lenses of my good old Contax cameras. I have just ordered the XF 50-140 f/2,8 and will also order a wide angle prime lens. I have not decided on which one, but the XF14mm and the Zeiss Touit 12mm looks great. My wife wants the XF27mm for its small size. It is completely dark here 24 hours a day right now, but when the light returns I will share photos and experiences with my Fuji X-system. Take care. Eirik
