    Contemplation

Trying my new Westcott Apollo 28 Modifier seeing what I could do with a cheap speed light and some positioning. X-T1, 56 1.2. Just playing around having fun.

    Winter Landscapes

We got a little bit of snow, there is supposed to be more sooner or later, but then spring is scheduled to be here sooner or later as well.

It does not take too very long to get rid of the blue cast on the mountains while keeping the nice sky blue as it is. If you are in a position to have the time that is ... But these are great shots AS IS!

  5. The newer f/2 lenses are probably a consistent bet among the primes. I'd go with the 50mm f/2 over the 56mm f/1.2 for video. The 56 was designed to be a portrait lens at a time when video was at best a secondary concern for Fuji.

    Composition

I’m interested in how people on the forum compose photos. I have a multi-stage approach. I have my camera set up with a rule-of-thirds grid in the viewfinder, with my focus point typically around the top left or top right intersection. Then I take lots of photos to get one shot - sometimes 50 or 100. I’ll go through them in Lightroom looking for the ones where my subjects are interacting with each other or the camera, where there’s a story and emotion to what they’re doing. Then I’ll crop using one of the Lightroom composition overlays. I use the spiral a lot, and then diagonals or rule of thirds. This picture was cropped using the spiral. Here’s a slightly more detailed Golden Ratio spiral overlaid onto it: Interestingly in this case the spiral also works in the other main orientations Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
