In the baroque church of Santa Marta, a copy dated 1708 of the Holy Shroud is preserved (bottom of the photo). The Holy Shroud is certainly one of the most controversial relics, as if it were authentic it would have covered the body of Jesus Christ before being placed in the tomb. Around the world, there are approximately 120 copies of the Holy Shroud, many of which were created in the 1700s. The original is located in Turin.

  12. Busy as a bee… Not far from Castor and Pollux in Gemini, actually just in the next constellation over to the “left” in Cancer, is Messier Object M44, The Beehive Cluster: M44 is fairly easy to find visually or when using binoculars or small telescopes. This is the equivalent of 58 minutes of exposure. https://science.nasa.gov/mission/hubble/science/explore-the-night-sky/hubble-messier-catalog/messier-44/ https://www.galactic-hunter.com/post/messier-44 https://www.constellation-guide.com/praesepe-m44-the-beehive-cluster/

  18. Hi all! apologies for my late reply. I'm using the XT-5 with the latest firmware. I also tried to update the flash, but that's not possible. I'm using a MacBook and somehow that doesn't really work. Anyway, I tried everything.. including switching on the camera first, then turning on the flash. Nothing changes. But I am using rechargeable batteries (fully charged) - maybe it might be worth trying different ones (need to buy some first). Will keep you updated! 🙂

    Any XF 30mm macro users?

I own all the small primes, love to take them out when I want to travel light and use primes. I bought the 30mm to put it in my bag instead of the 35mm f2. Perfect image quality, great focal length, just in between the 27mm and the 35mm. Use it a lot for images of flowers, small items to show detail, and also documentary work. Certainly not the lens for insects, yet great for all other purposes, and sharp and crisp. My walking around lens is the 23mm, if wider I use the 16mm and if portraits are asked for its the 50mm f2. And for close ups and standard viewing angle its the 30mm. Much more in use than the 35mm, works for me as I expected when I bought it.

  21. Orion has plenty of interesting parts to see; nebulas, bright glowing stars and whatnot. Orion is not the only neat thing in that part of the sky, the Rosette Nebula is close by and it is certainly neat to see. But there is also a Cone, a Christmas tree and a little variable thing as well. This is the equivalent of 112 minutes and lots of change worth of exposure. NGC 2261, Hubble’s Variable Nebula is named after astronomer Edwin Hubble, who also has the big space telescope named after him: https://hubblesite.org/contents/media/images/1999/35/904-Image.html The Cone Nebula, NGC 2264, is actually much larger than the part seen above, the part in the images is what gives it its name: https://www.constellation-guide.com/cone-nebula/ NASA had some fun with the Christmas Tree Cluster (The batch of stars in the “lower” part of the Cone Nebula), they rotated the image upside down — or right side up if you view it in the land down under — x-ray colored the nebula green and animated the Cluster’s stars. They have a player on their page: https://www.nasa.gov/image-article/telescopes-illuminate-christmas-tree-cluster/

    Fuji XT3 LCD blowing out

No, you are not doing anything wrong, those posts are some automated ads, probably to help paying for the server. Sorry to hear about your faulty LCD. I think your camera needs to go to Fuji service. Fujifilm site says this:

  36. What @abmet said, more information please! Try this, set the ISO to 6400, the shutter speed to 1/250, and put the lens’ aperture switch to A. Go outside during the brightest time, around midday or early afternoon and see what you get. The f-stop should be a large number, the lcd should show you the scene. It could be a little dark. Then try moving the aperture switch back, set the f-stop to wide open and try again. The image on the lcd should be brighter. There is a setting to dim the displays’ brightness, https://fujifilm-dsc.com/en/manual/x-t5/menu_setup/screen_set-up/ that may be affecting what you are (not) seeing.

    Any XF 30mm macro users?

I have one and like it a lot. It’s a pretty versatile lens. It’s compact and light and autofocus seems pretty fast. I would note that due to the shorter focal length for 1:1 magnification the working distance is very small. So small that have to remove the lens hood. For me it’s a great lens but if was looking for dedicated macro lens I’d probably look at longer focal length.

  40. The adapter has arrived and I've been testing it on the X-T4 with the EF 400 f5.6 and so far I can't really fault it. Autofocus speed and accuracy is excellent, albeit tested only on single point focus, which is what I use 95% of the time. I can't comment on face or eye AF as I haven't tried it and I'm not a big fan of either anyway - just not features that I use. So far the lens is 'fixed' on its widest aperture of f5.6 but that has not been an issue for me at all so far and I have noticed during experimenting with camera settings that it has stopped down by itself for reasons that I am unsure about to be honest however it's very early days so it may be that there is potential to be able to alter the aperture on demand if I actually want or need to. I have yet to find any issues to make me wish I had gone for a considerably more expensive adapter with aperture ring. Attached jpeg, which has been through Topaz Photo AI and cropped, shows what this combination of lens and adapter can do.

  45. Hi, I am Italian, living in The Netherlands and working around the world as expact for almost 25 yeas so I define myself as citizen of the world. I started with photography in my teenager years when I was shooting with an entry level reflex, couple of zooms and lots of film rolls. During the university and the early carrier, I left photography aside, too busy with building a life. It took quite some years to have a camera back again in the hands and that was when I was working in Singapore but by then the digital replaced the film, so I had a sort of new start. Of course, moving ahead in life, I dropped photography again for few years till I discovered Lomography which brought back my passion and I restarted with rolls and toy cameras. And since, after a two there is always a three, I put the cameras and films aside again and using the mobile phone here and there shooting without thinking. Now since few months, I have this urge to step back again in to real photography and so Santa has already put under the tree an X-T5 with 23mm 1.4f R LM WR. I am back. Giuseppe

  46. Hey there, i am new to this forum and this will be my first post. As a faithful fujirumors reader i decided to register today, because i have something i like to share with you. I found a workaround to use the film simulations we all appreciate in capture one pro. All the work and all the credits belong to Scottie Wang who made this possible. Thank you, Scottie He made some pretty cool icc profiles that can be used in capture one pro 8 to simulate all the films we know. Due to file size limits in this forum i have to make several zip files with each simulation in sRGB and Adobe RGB. To install (on a mac) put that icc in this folder : ~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles If you made it right, it should be looking like this: You can flyover with the mouse and have an instant preview on your image. I love this very much so i like to share this with everybody who is enthusiastic about fujifilm! I just need to be reviewed because i am new and i will upload all icc profiles here in this post.
