XT2 Video

Please be patient, because I really know very little about this!!

Been trying the video on the XT2. I have a 16 GB Sandisk 80 MB/s HC1 card in it. I have the video setting on 4K 2160/29.97P (not even sure what this means). Here's what I'm facing;

  1. Before I start recording, it shows 19m48s, which I'm assuming refers to how much recording time I have. As soon as I press the shutter, it shows 10m0s. Could someone please explain why this change happens?
  2. Then after about 30 seconds, it stops recording and shows 'storing' on the LCD for about 4 secs, after which it says "write error". The 'write error' message disappears in a couple of secs, and I can start recording again.
  3. When I do start recording again, it repeats everything in steps 1 and 2 above

Does this have something to do with the speed or capacity of the SD card? Moreover, if it has recorded 30 secs (in step 1 above), why does it show 10m0s the second time around (step 3 above)? Shouldn't it show 9m30s, which is the remaining recording time?

Any help, in non-technical terms if possible, would be highly appreciated.

I think this might be the reason you are seeing these numbers.

The 19m48s is the total amount of card memory availability to shoot video depending on which video setting you have chosen. Your 19m48s would probably show an increase if you chose lower video quality.

The 10m you are seeing is the amount of time Fuji has limited 4k video recording in camera. I've read that this might be do to heating dissipation concerns from Fuji, but I've also come across information that these low video times in camera are also because of the way cameras and video cameras are taxed and certified in certain countries.

The 30s is probably due to the fact that your video card is not fast enough to write the 4k video without starting to buffer.

So, the camera shoots for 30s, stops recording due to buffer, then you start to record again with a new 10m available to record video.
