Questions about filming a school play with XT2

Recommended Posts

I've been asked to film a school play. Probably max 2 hours with a break in the middle.

Last time I did it (same school) I had a video camera. Which I've now sold.

Now I will be using the XT2 plus an XT1, Both on latest firmware, both with battery grips and both with Rode external mics.

I know that due to video time restrictions I'll need to keep switching between cameras.

My plan is to set 1080 24fps and  ISO 800 on both cameras. Then play with the aperture to get as much in focus as possible.

I thought to have the XT2 connected (via the battery grip) to the charger.

I believe this will power the camera but not charge the batteries.

This will be my main camera.

As the XT2 gets close to max video clip length (29 minutes) I intend to turn on the XT1 (max 15 minutes)

Turn off the XT2 and let it write the data to the card, then turn it back on and turn off the XT1

This way I have no blank spots (although it obviously makes more work in editing)

My questions are as follows:

How much filming can I get on a 64 gig card (I'm not intending doing 4k)

If the mains charger connection isn't advisable/workable how much filming can I get out of the three batteries in the XT2 and the two batteries in the XT1

Sorry for what may seem simple questions, but as I've only had the XT2 for 2 months and the XT1 even less, I thought better to ask than spend wasted hours with trial and error.

Thanks in advance

Steve

This is the equivalent of 43 minutes, 40 seconds of exposure. NGC 1502 is a neat little cluster located in the Camelopardalis Constellation. This region of space was thought to be fairly empty by early astronomers, but as you can see, there is a lot there. Kemble's Cascade (a.k.a. Kemble 1) is named for Father Lucian Kemble, a Canadian Franciscan friar who wrote about it to Walter Scott Houston, an author for the Sky And Telescope magazine. Houston named the asterism for Fr. Kemble and the name "stuck". NGC 1501 is the Oyster Nebula. A longer focal length telescope is needed to bring this one into good viewing range, but it is well worth the effort. • Looking for input; there are some decent deals and might want to take advantage to expand my lenses for my 100s already own: 110/2 32-64 35-70 100-200 + TC   Shooting mostly family shots, bringing my kit to capture family outings indoors and out. Tracking the 63/43 effective FLs on the two, but has anybody used both? Would the 55 (covered by two zooms right now) be redundant? Would the 80 be too similar in character to my 110 for portraiture?
    • See what I mean? Two instantaneous ads. Worthless.
    • What's the deal Fuji X Forum? I'm noticing there are seldom replies to any topics - except for advertisements posted as replies. Really lame. Anyone else noticing the only reply they receive to a question is an advert?  🤠 fotomatt in Colorado
