What is the expected turn around for a repair

Hi,

I have a Fujinon 16mm f1.4 lens which had what looked like dust on the rear element. I sent it in on June 20 (received June 27) into Fuji Repair Canada in Mississauga. Pretty much after talking to support they thought it would take till July 26. Now I contact them and they are now quoting the week of August 7.

Just wanted to get the community feedback on what my expectations should be.

Thanks

Randy

Much depends on where you are in the world but the only time I had to send a camera for repair ( from the NL) it took a total of 8 weeks , 2 weeks were the shop’s fault a t 6 weeks the German Fuji lab.

It is ridiculous, I agree. Dust on the rear element was reason for me to exchange the 10-24 almost immediately after purchase.

Thanks for the feedback. Its kind of annoying to me that I have only shot indoors for 2 months (under 100 shots) with this lens when i noticed it. I've had Canon lens for over 10 years and never had to send it in. So hoping this is a one off. I'm kind of laughing at myself that Henrys Photography sent it out as a rush instead of replacing it. But lesson learned.

It's taking the Edison, NJ service center about 10 days to do camera repairs (X-T2 body only).  Fuji also has a pretty inexpensive rental program that runs around $35 for the period of the repair, plus shipping.

I wish I had been given this option. Under warranty I think you should be given a loaner if you did not cause the damage.

On the other hand you spent $1000 on a lens and the repair centre says your repair will take over 5 weeks where the item needs no parts replaced. I'd say for a hobbiest that makes me think maybe I should just get an iPhone. Can you imagine how long it might take of I sent in my 50-140? But at this point I hope I can get some late summer shoot in if they send back my lens in two weeks.

Thanks again for the support everyone.

This is what the enclosed doc said!

According to the document enclosed the Main PWB was replaced as was the top plate. Also the camera firmware was updated to 2.11, so just maybe part of the problem was firmware related?

So we're talking about a virtually complete strip down and of course a rebuild!

Glad your baby is back home!  And hopefully no more problems...

Interesting re: FW 2.11.  I just visited the Fuji website, and the latest version posted for the X-T2 is still 2.10.

Merlin you are right I too thought that the new firmware 2.11 was odd soI also checked thr Fuji website and yep they are quoting 2.10, I wonder if this is a fore runner of the next FW update? Time will tell!

When I unwrapped it it appeared as if new! Also a free battery was a bonus, I presume somebody forgot to remove it.
