Why no battery grip for Fuji x-t10?

Recommended Posts

As far as I know, Fuji X-T10 is a very popular and well-praised camera. But one of the most important and useful thing for any digital camera - battery grip isn't yet available for this camera while it is even available for X-T1. What a shame!!! What do u say friends?what can be done to give it a life?

I thought Fuji wants to keep X-T10 as small as possible. And it maybe their marketing strategy: if you need a grip, go for X-T1 ;)

An accessory is a customer's choice to buy it or not. Fuji made the camera compact, that's it. There should be no logic for not providing a battery grip for it as it has a very low powered battery. Fuji X-T1 is also not a very big device, so why Fuji released a battery grip for that???? And where are the 3rd party makers? DSLR cameras are already huge, so ideally no-one should make battery grip for those as then those become heavier, but still they do for better functionality. There mirrorless systems are so light that they can easily accommodate a few more weight for better functionality and still not feel as heavy as a DSLR. :-)

to be correct the battery grip ist noch even available for the x-t1 it is only available for the x-t1. there will also be no grip for the x-pro2 and at least from fuji's point of view there are many reasons..

Why no reason? I mean what's their point of view?

The X-T1 is their flagship camera, while the X-T10 is the entry level consumer camera. Only the flagship gets the benefit of having such a high level accessory. It's as easy as that.

First of all, they didn't make it as an entry level camera. Are there any major sacrifices than X-T1??? No!!! And do canons and nikons only provide battery grip for their flagships??? No!!! Actually my intention with this forum was to see whether people want a battery grip for it or not and I actually expected, most will agree with me to have one. And what I have seen previously, Fuji really looks into people's demand and by this forum, maybe we can get attention to them. But probably I am wrong and alone for this. Sorry guys.

Despite what one might want to think, the  X-T10 is obviously an entry level camera and when it was introduced caused a stir since it outperformed the X-E2 which was at the beginning marketed as an upmarket camera in the system, this caused, later, the need for fuji to upgrade the X-E2 and the introduce the X-E2S to match the X-T10 at a price which was lower than at X-E2 introduction.

Anyway, it is what it is. No contacts and no grip.

The need for a battery grip is certainly felt by a small minority of the buyers even on the X-T1 since it introduces a counterintuitive element which goes against the reason many choose a mirrorless camera over a DSLR system and that is its compactness. Unless one specifically needs the grip, what’s the use of buying a camera which characteristic is being small and then make it bigger by adding a grip? Not everyone’s choice, in fact very few people’s choice.

I certainly don’t need one.

This might of course depend on particular factors, but I've have actually YET to see anyone in my circles with a battery grip. I have seen many and not one with a battery grip.

There are few people whom want to make it the largest small camera in the world unless the absolutely need the extra battery power ( I’ve never run out of juice with 3 extra batteries in the pocket ) or they have giant hands which cannot hold the X-T1 without dropping it or can’t otherwise operate the camera vertically!

Unless you mean a L plate with front grip.

That’s a different thing altogether.

L plates, with grip (I have one of those) don’t qualify under the things that we are discussing since the title of this thread is about the battery grips.

The X-T10 can’t and will never have any because there are no contacts for it. But can have a L plate with gripfujifilm_16471691_mhg_xt10_hand_grip_114

Well well well....those who are arguing on the fact that X-T10 is an early level camera, I feel astonished that u r still fighting on this topic which is not the base of discussion of this forum. And besides, I don't actually care what u wanna call it or not. I myself didn't see anywhere it as an entry level camera and I actually have reason to argue on that. U guys wanna win on that, go ahead, u won. I thank to those guys who cleared it out about the absence of contacts for battery grip on X-T10. So that is the actual reason and again I thank u for letting us (people like me who had no idea about it) know. And about making bulky and bigger.....well most of here probably use X-T1. So unless u use the X-T10, u wouldn't realise that the grip of X-T10 isn't so great. It is a bit shallower than X-T1. Those whom I know or have seen in Internet, even some popular photographers, all at least went for an extra grip and they said it made the camera feel more nice in hand. So that's that. Plus changing battery frequently is less convenient than having long backup power, in exchange of having a bit bulk on it. And those who are arguing it will make the camera like DSLRs, think about it seriously man. The form factors of DSLR s are already bigger than a mirrorless. And noone wants a battery grip all the time. But there are times when it is convenient. And also, u don't need it, don't buy it. Who is forcing u? But it's always better to have that option in hand. But if physically not possible, what else to say. And ahhh...someone said, u want grip, buy X-T1, and not, buy X-T10....ha ha ha... that's how u choose a gadget?? U r really funny man. Anyway I hope this thread doesn't turn into a battlefield, which is why Fuji forums are so great, coz people here like to help each other, not tease.

yes, I am Sir, standard English is the forum’s language. Displaying your knowledge of text language is not a good an polite way to address a forum where people might not understand them.

Incidentally, nobody is fighting and we all express polite opinions in a polite way.

Oh I am extremely sorry and apologize if those letters offended you or someone in some way. I probably should have read the forum's scripture first. But it leaves me to an awe to see that, shorter form of such words can really hurt someone in some part of the world in this 2016. Definitely next time I will be careful enough to choose my writing style in here. Thank u sir and yes, I also like to discuss with more knowledgeable people here, not argue and it is nice to know others also share the same mentality.

(I hope I didn't make any grammatical mistake this time)

You are welcome, apology accepted Sir.

Your mistake was not the grammar but lack of courtesy towards those whom might not be able to decipher your text language. Conventions and common courtesy have a purpose in communication.

Again sir, my apologies. It is hard to understand that because it is so common to write in that style these days. This is more of a discussion forum, isn't it? Not an official statement or news website. And I meant no disrespect to anyone with those silly letters. Maybe just a matter of cultural gap I think which as I said, I will definitely try to follow.

You're mixing up a few things. The X-T10 is the entry level version of the X-T1. This was decided by Fuji. They obviously thought that the battery grip is a more advanced feature, suitable only for the flag ship model, so they left out the battery grip contacts. It wasn't the other way round. Fujifilm communicated this more than once. After all, they left out the ISO dial and they added the AUTO switch, a feature obviously more suited for an entry level camera. Technically, both cameras perform on an identical level but the UI is different, which makes all the difference.

And yes, I choose tools based on the factual features they offer. On the X-T1, I needed a battery grip. So even if the X-T10 was already on the market when I bought the X-T1s, I would have still gone for the X-T1 because it features the optional battery grip. Nothing funny about that, but rather rational thinking.

Besides, you're the only one who is arguing in an emotional way. Maybe you should calm down and start discussing in an objective way. Feeling offended because someone is calling your tool entry level is not the correct response.

I think you are mad at me because I called you funny. Well please don't be so emotional about it. Your choice is yours. But I started this thread because I wasn't quite aware about the "contacts" fact. That's my bad. If you would have cleared it out, rather than saying some unspecific logics, it would be so smooth for everyone, isn't it? And please, don't keep blaming others. I exactly mentioned I had no problem what u call it - an entry level or beginners or whatever. Why should I be offended about that? It's a camera. Just a camera. I just wanted to know why still there were no battery grip for this camera and if people actually care for it or not.... you guys completely twisted the matter. And that is very immature. I am arguing on what? Did I say any illogical things yet? No. The way you guys responded, I felt it wasn't quite a polite approach, just like someone didn't like my u's and r's and I totally understood his opinion. There was a sense of wining among you guys to prove this is an entry level camera. Ok!!! It is an entry level. Who cares? It doesn't have any contacts for battery grip and that's all matters. End of discussion!

Professionals use the X-T10.  Doesn't matter what level the camera is.  What matters is what is the right tool for you.  That's all that matters.  The only people worried about what level of camera you are using for your craft are usually found on those web forums that center around those other brands.

It doesn't have a grip because there is no way for the grip to communicate with the camera.  That is the question asked by the OP, that is the answer provided by the community.  Fuji chose to not make available because the target market for the camera isn't the sector of the market that exactly purchases the add-ons users of the T1 series will.
